Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word 97-2003 (*.doc) or higher document file format. This will be used as the main submission file.

  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 9-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end. All manuscripts must be in an A4 paper size.

  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.

  • The paper template has been strictly followed.

  • A short cover letter regarding the submission together with a suggestion of three (3) potential reviewers is also required. This will be uploaded as supplementary file.

Instruction for the Preparation of Manuscript

Authors interested to submit manuscript to the International Journal of Engineering Materials and Manufacture are advised to follow the template provided in MS Word. In addition to template, the following instructions are to guide authors to format their manuscript for faster publication.

Format: Paper size A4, top and bottom margin 3 cm, left and right margin 2.5 cm, header and footer 1.5 cm, Maiandra GD font for the whole document. Single spacing, both left and right margins justified.

Font size: Title 14, Author name 11, Abstract 9, Figure Table caption 9, Remaining whole document 9

Manuscript Structure: The manuscript should be organized with title of the paper, authors' names and affiliation, abstract, keywords, introduction, body of the paper (in sequential headings), conclusion, acknowledgements, references, and appendices (where applicable).

Title: The title is centred, “Initial Capitalized” bold face and adequately describe the content of the paper.

Authors: The author's full name(s) follows the title and is also centered on the page. A blank line is required between the title and the author's name(s). The author's affiliation, complete mailing address, and e-mail address (font size 9) are provided at the bottom of first page.

Abstract: A nonmathematical abstract, not exceeding 200 words, is required for all papers. It should be accurate and sufficient presentation of the contents of the paper to enable readers to decide whether they should read the entire paper. Do not cite references in the abstract.

Keywords: The author should provide 3-5 keywords that clearly describe the subject matter of the paper.

Text Layout: The manuscript must be typed single spacing. Use extra line spacing between equations, illustrations, figures and tables. The first paragraph following a heading should not be indented. The following paragraphs must be indented 5 mm. Note that there is no line spacing between paragraphs unless a subheading is used. Symbols for physical quantities in the text should be written in italics.

Section Heading: Section headings should be typed bold, both side justified and in capital letters. It is to be numbered consecutively with Arabic numeral. Do not underline section headings.

Subheading: Subheadings should be initial capitalized and both side justified with a single blank line spacing above. Sub-subheading is similar to subheading but italic.

Equations and Mathematical Expressions: Equation should be numbered consecutively in parentheses and the whole equation is to be right justified.

Equation Display style: Equations are to be presented in display format where the equations is separated from the paragraphs of text. Fractional powers should be used instead of root signs. A slash (/) should be used instead of a horizontal line for fractions, whenever possible; for example, use 2/3 for two-thirds.

Figure and Table: Figures and Tables should be numbered consecutively using Arabic numeral such as Figure 1, and Table 1. They should be placed in the text soon after the point where they are referenced. Figure and Table and their caption should be centered.  Table caption should be placed below the figure and whereas the Table caption is to place above the Table.

Conclusion: A conclusion section must be included and should indicate clearly the advantages, limitations and possible applications of the paper. Discuss about future work.

Acknowledgements: A brief acknowledgement may be presented after the conclusion to appreciate individuals or agencies who were of in direct help

Units: The use of SI units is strongly recommended and mixed units are to be avoided.

References: The APA format 6th edition referencing system is to be strictly followed. Personal communications and unpublished data are not acceptable references.

Permissions: Authors wishing to include figures, tables, or text passages that have already been published elsewhere are required to obtain permission from the copyright owner(s) Any material received without such evidence will be assumed to originate from the authors.

Manuscript Submission: Presently authors are advised to submit their manuscript by email [email protected]. Online submission system will be developed soon. Submission implies that the work has not been published before; that it is not under consideration for publication anywhere else. It has been approved by all co-authors, if any, as well as by the responsible authorities at the institute where the work has been carried out. The publisher will not be held legally responsible should there be any claims for compensation.

Peer Review Policy: Submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editors. If the manuscript is found to be suitable, it will be send to two experts for single blind peer review.

Proof: Proofs will be sent to the corresponding author for final checking. Corrections to the proofs must be restricted to printer’s errors and not to make major changes. Proofs should be returned to the editors within three days to for faster online publication. The editors do not accept responsibility for the correctness of published contents. It is the author’s responsibility to check the content at proof stage.

Plagiarism Checking: Screening for plagiarism will be performed using turnitin platform. In general, a maximum similarity index of 20% is acceptable. However, the editor reserves the right to accept or not to accept any paper without any further explanation.
